The short answer is no, in order to receive Social Energy credits, your meter must simply be a credit meter.
(Credit meter means a meter that does not have to be topped up in advance for the supply to be made and includes a smart meter in credit mode.)
In order to set up a SEG tariff for your export payments, you will need to have a SMART meter in place but your SEG provider will be able to provide you with more information on this.
