Although Social Energy is not an export provider, we still get asked this question quite a lot.
When an energy supplier imports electricity, they have to pay lot’s of charges imposed on them to help manage the grid, and subside government schemes. Unfortunately, when you export electricity, the energy suppliers can’t claim most of those costs back and that is why the export rate is lower than the import rate.
If you haven't set up a SEG tariff yet, you can find a list of suppliers who may be able to help here.
