Without a Smart meter you won’t be able to realise all the potential savings from your Social Energy Hub, so we recommend you have one installed. The Smart meters that Social Energy installs will be next generation SMETS2 meters which will ensure you maximise your export efficiencies. They will allow Social Energy to collect readings remotely, saving you the hassle of submitting a reading each month. Readings will be collected half-hourly to enable the AI technology to manage your energy bills, giving better visibility of your consumption and more control over how your account is managed. There may be a bit of a lead time to have these installed and Social Energy will notify you when they are ready to start installations. Installation will be free of charge. Smart meters are a great way to keep an eye on how much energy you’re using, here are a few of the main benefits:
- Your supplier receives meter readings automatically rather than you needing to read your meter and send in a reading. This mean you’ll always receive accurate bills rather than estimated bills.
- Smart meters come with an In-Home-Display or a mobile app, which gives you greater visibility of your usage patterns and costs, enabling you to identify ways to reduce your consumption and therefore your bills
- Most importantly for Social Energy customers, having a Smart meter and giving us permission to collect half-hourly meter readings is essential for you to maximise your savings and earnings.
